My creative practice research proposes ‘Architectural Judo’ as a way of gently destabilising environments to productive ends, and was the subject of my PhD undertaken in the School of Architecture + Design at RMIT University. This ‘gentle way’ is explored through spatially immersed relational techniques that work at the edges between architecture, installation art and interior design. This leads to an understanding of buildings and other seemingly stable systems as events or atmospheres always in formation.
Upcoming projects include a book proposal based on this PhD research, and ‘Gentle House’, a design for a new home for a family of four, one of whom is autistic and living with sensory processing disorder.
